Washburn Soccer Inks Nine For Next Season (UPDATED)

TOPEKA, Kan. – Women's soccer head coach Jamie Hutchison is happy to announced the signing of eight student-athletes to the 2017 soccer signing class.
 
One day after addressing the media for the first time as the Washburn women's soccer coach, Hutchison along with assistant coach Tia Stovall are set to welcome nine Ichabods to the 2017 roster.
 
"I am very excited about the incoming recruiting class in terms of both the character of the young ladies and the ability that they have," said Hutchison. "From all of the research that I've done, from speaking with our assistant coach Tia, and from coaches in Kansas and the surrounding area, this is a very exciting recruiting class. We're looking forward to working with them this fall and we're sure that they are going to contribute to the future success of the program."
 
Whitney Bockover – 5'5 – Defender/ Midfielder – Topeka, Kan. – Bishop Carroll HS
 
Four-year starter on the Bishop Carroll soccer team … Named Offensive Honorable Mention and second team all-state during her sophomore campaign … Made back-to-back appearances at the state tournament with 3rd-place finishes during her sophomore and junior seasons … Played alongside Saige Peebler and Tera Lynch on the WFC Fire club team …  Also a member of the Bishop Carroll varsity basketball team … Daughter of Renee and Scott Bockover … mother played basketball at Pittsburgh State and father played football at Ft. Scott Community College … has two sisters Taylor and Brooklyn … has two brothers Drew and Brady … Plans to major in Nursing.
 
Paige Ledesma – 5'0 – Midfielder – Wichita, Kan. – Maize HS
 
Four-year member of the Maize soccer team where she helped the Mavericks to back-to-back regional championships and a fourth-place finish at the state tournament …  named second team all-league and second team all-state during sophomore season … earned first team all-league and second team all-state honors during junior season … daughter of Marisa and Brian Ledesma …step-father is Damond Pollock … has two brothers Zack and Cristian .
 
Tera Lynch – 5'3 – Midfielder – Wichita, Kan. – Eisenhower HS
 
Four-year member of the Eisenhower soccer team that were regional champions during the 2013-14 season… Named second team all-league after the 2015 season … earned first team all-league honors during her junior season as well as co-player of the year … set a new record for single season goals … was also a kicker on the Eisenhower football team … played alongside fellow freshmen Saige Peebler and Whitney Bockover on the WFC Fire club team … daughter of Kim and Jason Lynch … brother Blake Lynch is a place kicker for the Kansas State football team … anticipated major is Sports Medicine.
 
Jasmine Palmer – 5'1 – Forward – Lee's Summit, Mo. – Lee's Summit HS
 
Three-year member of the Lee's Summit soccer team that turned in back-to-back state tournament appearances her sophomore and junior seasons … also a three-year member of the Lee's Summit high school basketball team … daughter of Lisa and Duke Palmer … has one brother Derrick … anticipated major is Kinesiology.
 
Saige Peebler – 5'7 – Midfielder – Wichita, Kan. – Maize South HS
 
Earned second team all-city honors in three seasons at Maize high school …  team earned regional champion honors during her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as a fourth-place finish at the State tournament in 2015 … daughter of Amy and Jason and has one sister Londen … anticipated major is Criminal Justice.
 
Haley Schroeder – 5'2 – Midfielder – Kansas City, Mo. – Lutheran HS
 
Two-year starter on the Lutheran High School soccer team after playing one season with the KC Courage … scored one goal and notched three assist in her one season playing a collegiate schedule with KC Courage …  Notched 30 goals and 16 assist her sophomore season earning first team all-region, first team Lutheran All-America, and KC Lutheran Team MVP honors … Scored 27 goals with 15 assist her junior year … earned first team all-district, first team all-region, first team all-state, first team Lutheran All-America, and Regional Co-Offensive Player of the year honors … also competed in cross country for two years with two state championships appearances …  Daughter of Todd Schroeder … has one brother Ryan and one sister Kayla  … sister played collegiate soccer at MidAmerica Nazarene … plans to major in nursing.
 
Kati Sneegas – 5'5 – Defender - Shawnee, Kan. – Shawnee Mission North HS
 
Two-year starter for Shawnee Mission North earning honorable mention honors her freshman and sophomore seasons … Played for the Women's Premier Soccer League team KC Courage her junior season … was the only high school player to start during the 2016-17 season … daughter of Kristi and Brendan and has one sister Kelsie … undecided on major.
 
Madelyne Stringer – 5'6 – Forward – Imperial, Mo. – Windsor HS
 
Four-year starter on the Windsor soccer team … Posted eight goals and two assist her freshman season … team was named Conference Champion in 2014 …  posted eight goals and five assist her sophomore season … earned first team all-conference, first team all-district, and first team all-region honors her junior season after posting 19 goals and seven assist … daughter of Angela and Bill Stringer … planning to major in accounting.

Jenna Shortridge – 5'10 – Defender/Forward – Lake Worth, Fl. – North Broward Prep
 
Four-year member of the North Broward Prep varsity soccer team … team won the District Championship Title her freshman season … tabbed Sun Sentinel Honorable Mention her sophomore season … team won the District Championship that year, as well as Team of the Year and Academic Team of the Years honors … named team captain during her junior campaign, earning Sun Sentinel Honorable Mention for the second time … team was tabbed Academic Team of the Year for second consecutive year … also competed in Volleyball, Track and Field, and Cross Country … voted Class President her junior and senior year … member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, and Spanish Honor Society … daughter of Sonia and Eston Shortridge … has one brother Jason Shortridge … plans to major in Biology.
