Alonzo Harrison
Track and Field 1970-74
Inducted 2001-02
Alonzo Harrison racked up many records as a member of the Washburn track and field team from 1970 to 1974. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001-02.
Harrison set school records in the 100-meter dash (9.6 seconds) and 200-meter dash (21.8 seconds).
He was an all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection in 1972 and 1973. In 1974 he qualified for the NAIA national indoor meet and the Pan American Games Trial. He was also listed on the NAIA National Honor Roll for having one of the top 10 fastest dash times in the country.
Harrison graduated from Washburn in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree. He earned post-graduate degrees from the Kansas, Georgia Tech, Dartmouth and Harvard.
