Bob Noblitt - Football (1963-64) and Football Coach (1971-73)
All-American football player and former head coach Bob Noblitt played at Washburn for two years from 1963-64 and coached from 1971-73. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995-96.

After his playing days he coached at various colleges before returning to Washburn. In three years with the Ichabods he led them to a 12-17-1 record as the team switched to the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Noblitt played on both sides of the football as an offensive guard and defensive nose guard. His senior year he was named an NAIA All-American as he helped the Ichabods win the 1964 Central Intercollegiate Conference title with an 8-1 overall record and 4-0 conference mark.

He earned all-CIC and all-district honors both his years. Prior to coming to Washburn he earned all-Big Eight honors in 1961.

Noblitt graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in history and coached as a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois as he earned a master’s degree. He then coached at Yankton College (South Dakota) before coming to Washburn.

He later spent 16 years as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy from 1984-99 before retiring.
