Washburn University Athletics

Cecil Peterson was captain of the Washburn men’s basketball team and a four-year letterman in the sport from 1931-34. He served on the Washburn University Board of Regents from 1954-67. He served as president of the Washburn Alumni Association and as a trustee of the Washburn Endowment Association. He received the Washburn Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 1971. In 1993, he received the Washburn Service Award for his dedication to the University. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980.
