Chuck Brehm - Men's Basketball (1950-54)
Chuck Brehm began his college education at University of Kansas where he played basketball for a year. In 1950, he enrolled at Washburn University and in the spring, replaced the then starting forward Chuck Benson who had joined the Air Force. Brehm had no problems picking up where Benson had left off. Brehm was named all CIC in 1951, the year the Ichabods won the conference championship, and again in 1952 as the Blues won another championship. In 1953 and 1954 he was selected to the All-CIC first team as a forward.

After he graduated from Washburn in 1954, Brehm eventually joined the Air Force as a jet pilot with the Air Defense Command.

Soon he came back to his true love, and began to coach basketball at Durham High School in Durham, Kansas and at Altamont High in Altamont, Kansas.

Brehm began coaching at the collegiate level in 1960 for Dodge City Community College. In 1964, his team won the National Junior College Championship and Brehm was named NAIA Junior College Coach of the Year.

He then went on to coach at Fort Hays State where he was also an Associate Professor in Health and Physical Education. He was elected NAIA District 10 coach of the year for his work at Fort Hays in 1971 when the Tigers won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship. He was inducted into the Washburn Hall of Fame in 1979.
