Jack Clanton - Track and Field, Football (1961-63)
Junior college transfer Jack Clanton competed in football and track and field at Washburn for three years from 1961-63. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984-85.

His senior year he placed first in shot put in the Central Intercollegiate Conference and took second and third his sophomore and junior years, respectively.

Clanton played three years for the football team. His senior year he was named to the all-CIC team as a defensive lineman while gaining looks from professional scouts for the Denver Broncos.

Clanton graduated from Washburn in 1967 and coached at St. George High School near Manhattan, Kansas. Prior to coming to WU he attended Fort Scott Community College and Neodesha High School. As a prep football player he was named a Sporting News' All-American.
