Jim Butler - Football (1985-87)
Jim Butler finished his career for Washburn Football as the program's all-time leader in sacks. He played for the Ichabods from 1985-87 and earned All-America honors his final season. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001-02.
Butler set a school record with 28.5 career sacks and that record still stood through the 2006 season. He also set the school’s single-game sack record twice when he got to Wayne State’s quarterbacks four times in both 1985 and 1987.
His 12 sacks as a senior was tied for the school’s single-season record, earning him NAIA All-America honors and a spot on the all-Central States Intercollegiate Conference team.
Butler graduated from Washburn in 1989 with a degree in corrections and law enforcement.
