John L. Johnson - Basketball (1966-70) and Baseball (1967-70)
Two-sport athlete John Johnson played basketball for the Ichabods from 1966-70 and baseball from 1967-70. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992-93.
On the hard wood, he earned NAIA all-district honors his senior year and during his junior year he led the team with a 51 percent shooting percentage while averaging 12.0 points per game.
In his four seasons, the Ichabods went 67-35 and won the Central Intercollegiate Conference championship his first two years. In 1968-69, he was a part of the school’s first 20-win season with a 20-10 record.
On the baseball field, Johnson played all four years and was a solid hitter and fielder while also making some appearances on the mound. His senior year he batted .248 with 14 RBI and had a .981 fielding percentage.
