Jon Bingesser - Football, Baseball, Track, and Basketball (1958-61)
Jon Bingesser was not just a phenomenally versatile multi-sport athlete at Washburn, he was also a great coach. At Washburn he obtained three letters in football, four in baseball, four in track and one in basketball. Bingesser was elected to the All-Conference team his junior and senior years.
After graduation in 1962, Bingesser started his 19 year coaching career and achieved an overall record of 122-58-2. Fourteen years of his career were spent at Salina’s Sacred Heart High School. He then moved on to coach college sports at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
Bingesser’s achievements as a football coach earned him recognition as the Topeka Capital Journal Coach of the Year in 1974. He was inducted into the Washburn Hall of Fame in 1981.
