Joy (Benton) Skeens - Women's Basketball (1981-85)
Joy (Benton) Skeens wrapped up her basketball career at Washburn as the Lady Blues all-time leading scorer with 1,356 points, which ranks eighth on the Washburn all-time scoring chart as of 2020. A consistent player over her career, she averaged 11.8 points and 7.0 rebounds a game averaging a career-best 13.1 points per game as a senior en route to first team CSIC honors. Her 806 career rebounds were also tops in school history and currently rank fourth on Washburn's all-time chart. Her 7.0 rebounds per game average is seventh on the career chart at Washburn.

Skeens lives in Lenexa with her husband Allen and children Brady, Colton and Logan. Her son, Brady, went on to play basketball at Washburn and became an All-American as well as a two-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Year award winner. Skeens says her greatest Washburn memories were winning the conference championship in the 1983-84 season and playing in Whiting Fieldhouse. Skeens was also a member of the Lady Blues softball team from 1980-82.
