Three-time All-American Laura Klamm Ferguson played softball at Washburn from 1983-86 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997-98.

Ferguson earned NAIA first team All-America honors her sophomore and senior year and her junior year she was named to the second team. After her playing career she was inducted into the NAIA Softball Hall of Fame.

Ferguson pitched and played shortstop for the Lady Blues. She had a career record of 79-27 from the circle and she led her team to the NAIA National Tournament in 1985 and 1986. The Lady Blues were national runner-up in 1985 and finished fifth the next year. Both of those years she was selected as the tournament MVP.

She also excelled in the classroom as she earned academic all-Central States Intercollegiate Conference honors all four years at Washburn and she was an NAIA academic All-American in 1986.

Ferguson went 30-7 in 1986 to establish a school win record that has stood through the 2020 season. Her 79 career wins is also a record.
