Mike Grogan played quarterback for the Ichabod football team from 1974-77 and was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003-04.

Grogan was named first team all-Great Plains Athletics Conference as a quarterback in 1977. He finished his career as the Ichabods’ all-time leader with 23 touchdown passes and 3,761 passing yards and he completed 292 passes in 596 attempts for a .490 completion percentage.

He led the team in passing and total offense all four years and during his senior year he set a career high with 1,202 yards.

Playing under Hall of Fame coach Larry Elliott, Grogan led the Ichabods to a 24-15-1 record in his four years. The Ichabods played in their first bowl game in 1974, Grogan’s freshman year, and they beat Millikin in the Boot Hill Bowl in Dodge City, Kansas. Grogan was named offensive MVP after completing 7-of-16 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. The team returned to the same bowl in 1976 under Grogan’s signal calling.

Grogan’s touchdown pass record stood until 2004 and was second at WU through the 2007 season. His career passing yards total was fifth and he was seventh with 3,861 yards of total offense.
