Patty Dick - Women's Basketball (1970-71) and Coached Women’s Basketball (1977-2000)
Patty Dick was a fixture on the Lady Blues’ sideline for 23 years before retiring following the 1999-2000 season. She was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001-02.

She recorded a 431-224 record for a .658 percent winning percentage. She recorded 20-win seasons 11 times, five 25-win seasons and two 30-win seasons.

Not only did she coach the Lady Blues to some of their most successful seasons, but she also was a player on Washburn's first intercollegiate women’s basketball team in 1970. She played again the next year before graduating with a bachelor of education degree.

Dick coached five of her last 10 teams to the NCAA tournament. She led the Lady Blues to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1991-92 and then to the national semifinals the following year with a 31-1 record. That same season she coached them to a perfect 16-0 MIAA record for their first conference crown and prior to that she led them to four Central States Intercollegiate Conference championships in 1984, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

Dick was well rewarded for her accomplishments, picking up a trio of Coach of the Year honors. She was named by her peers in the conference as MIAA Coach of the Year, and was honored for the second-straight year as Converse District 6 Coach of the Year as selected by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
