Peg Marmet - Coached Women’s Tennis (1976-99) and Coached Men’s Tennis 1977-99
Peg Marmet coached the Washburn Ichabods and Lady Blues tennis teams from 1976 to 1999. She was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.

As coach of the women for 22 years, she had a 182-87 record and from 1977-99 she went 219-102 leading the men for 21 years. Overall she had a 401-189 record (.680).

In her first season as the Ichabods and Lady Blues head coach she went a combined 2-20, but after years of hard work and dedication, Marmet built the Washburn tennis program into one that competed on not only a conference level, but a regional and national level as well.

She was the coach of the first MIAA championship team for Washburn as her Lady Blues won the title in 1991. She was named NAIA District 10 women’s coach of the year in 1986 and District 10 men’s coach of the year in both 1989 and 1990. She was also named 1997 Midwest Region ITA co-coach of the year.

Marmet received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education from Kansas State and Emporia State, respectively.
