Rodger Tiesing - Football (1963-66) and Baseball 1964-67)
Two-sport star Rodger Tiesing attended Washburn from 1963-67 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994-95.
Tiesing was a three-time All-American on the football team. He played defensive end from 1963-66 and he earned all-Central Intercollegiate Conference and all-district honors all four years. His final three years he also earned all-region honors.
His sophomore year he helped Washburn to a CIC championship with an 8-1 overall record and 4-0 conference mark.
As a baseball player, Tiesing started as catcher all four years. In 1967 he ranked seventh nationally in home runs.
After graduating in 1967 he played minor league football and then became a high school coach.
