Washburn women's basketball adds four in 2026 signing class

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball head coach Lora Westling announced the signing of four high school seniors on Wednesday afternoon who will join the program for the 2026-27 season.  

Westling on the class: "We are thrilled about this recruiting class. This group brings an incredible level of talent, competitiveness, and desire to make an immediate impact on our program. They're not only elite players, but also outstanding students who will make our university proud. I would like to thank my assistant coaches for their commitment and dedication in landing such a tremendous class. The future is bright!" 

Austin Duncan | 6-2 | Forward | Denver, Colo. | Kent Denver HS  

High School: Will be a four-year member of the Kent Denver basketball program with the Sun Devils ... earned All-State recognition as a junior while also being named First Team All-Conference ... reached 1,000 points during junior season ... played prep ball with the Colorado Hoopsters  

Personal: Daughter of Malik and Tara Duncan ... has one sister, Evan ... plans to major in biology  

Westling on Duncan: "Austin is young for her class, but you wouldn't know it watching her play. She is tenacious on the glass and has the ability to stretch the floor in the post position. She has great hands and loves to defend which creates havoc on both ends of the floor. We are incredibly excited to utilize her versatility."  

Avery McCorry: 5-9 | Guard | Wichita, Kan. | Bishop Carroll HS 

High School: Will be a four-year member of the Bishop Carroll basketball program ... helped the Eagles to a 2nd place finish at state as a freshman ... earned honorable mention All-City honors and third team All-Metro during her sophomore season ... as a junior was second team All-City and an All-State honorable mention ... also participated in two seasons of volleyball and will play four years of soccer ... earned first team All-State honors in soccer as a junior helping Bishop Carroll to a state championship  

Personal: Daughter of Becky and Evan McCorry ... has a sister, Ashton who played basketball at Pittsburg State, Garden City CC and UTRGV where she also played soccer ... plans to major in business  

Audrey Plunkett | 5-11 | Forward | Midwest City, Okla. | Carl Albert HS  

High School: Will be a four-year member of the Carl Albert basketball program ... earned first team District One honors as a junior for the Titans ... earned a spot on The Oklahoman's 2025 All-State girls basketball roster ... was an All-Suburban conference honorable mention as a freshman  

Personal: Plans to major in psychology or criminal justice  

Westling on Plunkett: "Audrey is incredibly long and athletic in the hybrid position.  She always seems to step up when her teams need her, whether it's with a bucket, a board, or a stop. Her versatility will make her a very tough match up for our opponents.  Defensively she is long, active, and makes things happen." 

Macey Willmann | 5-8 | Guard | Kansas City, Mo. | North Kansas City HS  

High School: Will be a four-year member of the North Kansas City basketball program ... earned All-Conference first team honors as a freshman ... repeated as a sophomore adding All-District first team recognition as well ... helped the Hornets to the NKC Conference Championship ... repeated first team All-Conference and All-District honors as a junior and earned All-Tournament team honors in three tournaments  

Personal: Daughter of Melissa and Shane Willmann ... has four brothers, Ethan, Jake, Caden and Logan ... Shane played basketball at Penn Valley and Ethan ran track at Park University ... plans to major in medical imaging 

Westling on Willmann: "Macey is a hooper. She loves to compete and brings a motor and IQ that we love. She is gritty, tough, and wants the ball in her hands in the biggest moments.  Fans will love her style and swagger."
