TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's
Dillon Claussen from Ichabod basketball and
Aubrey Tanksley from Ichabod soccer have been named the Hy-Vee Student-Athletes of the Week for action ending Nov. 30.
Aubrey Tanksley's goal in the 75th minute of the NCAA Regional Championship game off a corner kick from Bricelyn Betts gave the Ichabods a 1-0 lead over St. Cloud State sending Washburn to the Elite Eight for the second time in school history where they will take on the Midwest Region Champion, Missouri - St. Louis, in the Elite Eight this Saturday, December 6th, for a spot in the Final Four.
Dillon Claussen averaged 19.5 ppg and 6 rpg as the No. 2-ranked Ichabods were 2-0 for the week. Against Friends he scored 19 points in 24 minutes going 9 of 11 from the field adding a block and two steals. Against Ottawa, Claussen scored 20 points in 18 minutes hitting 7 of 11 field goal attempts adding six boards with a block and three steals. For the week he was 16 of 22 from the field (73 percent) and 7 of 11 from the free throw line as the Ichabods improved to 8-0
