LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The 2024-25 Washburn Ichabod volleyball team was recognized for its work in the classroom this past season by the American Volleyball Coaches Association along with INTENT.  

Following the 2024-25 school year, the Ichabods had a combined team grade point average of 3.54 after a spring 2025 team GPA of 3.69.  
 
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.  

Washburn has been a recipient of the award nine times overall, including each of the last five years and seven times since 2018.   

Washburn was one of seven schools from the MIAA to receive the award. 
   
MIAA teams to receive the honor were Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern, Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri and Washburn.  

The 2025 season will get underway on the road at the Mines Volleyball Classic from September 5-6. Washburn will play four matches in two days beginning with the University of New Haven on Friday, September 5 at 1 p.m. MST.
