Nick Ginapp is in his seventh season at Washburn in 2014 as an assistant coach after spending a season as an assistant at NCAA Division I Western Illinois in 2007. He works primarily with the pitching staff. Ginapp is a 2005 graduate of Buena Vista (Iowa) with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science/sports management. He went on to earn a master’s degree in sports management at Western Illinois in 2007.
Ginapp instructed the Leatherneck outfielders and coached first base as WIU went 31-26 and finished second in the Summit League. His coaching experience also includes spending the summer of 2006 with the Macomb American Legion baseball team in Macomb, Illinois.
At Buena Vista Ginapp pitched for the Beavers and was honored by his team as pitcher of the year in 2005, his senior year. He also led BVU in ERA that year.
Along with his coaching duties, Ginapp is a physical education teacher and athletic director at Topeka Collegiate School. He is a 2001 graduate of Marshalltown High School in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he was part of the state runner-up team twice while playing baseball and basketball for four years.
Ginapp resides in Topeka with his wife, Cassie and their daughter, Kenley, born in 2010 and son, Peyton, born in 2013.
