Career Professional Statistics
All-American and MLB pitcher Rick DeHart played baseball for the Ichabods in 1990 and 1991 and was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005-06.
DeHart went 6-3 his junior year with a 2.64 ERA and earned first team NAIA All-America honors. He also earned second team all-district honors that year as he had 67 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings.
His senior year he set a school record that has stood through 2007 with 100 strikeouts. He went 5-6 that year with a 2.81 ERA.
DeHart ended his two years at Washburn at 11-9 with 167 strikeouts and a 2.74 ERA. His strikeout total stood as second best in school history until 2006.
DeHart was signed in 1992 by the Montreal Expos and pitched for three years with the Expos from 1997 to 1999 and then he pitched for the Kansas City Royals in 2003.
In his rookie year he pitched in 23 games with a 2-1 record and 29 strikeouts. He finished his four years in the Major League with 45 strikeouts in 63 innings spread through 56 games, all out of the bullpen.
After being released by the Royals in 2003 he played for the Northern League’s Schaumburg Flyers until 2006. Along with other minor league assignments, he has also played professionally in Mexico and Japan.
