Two-time academic All-American Rhonda Matzke transferred to Washburn to play basketball two years from 1992-94. She was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006-07.

Matzke’s senior year was filled with numerous honors and awards as she was selected as Kansas Woman of the Year. She also earned first team all-MIAA honors and second team academic All-America.

In her two years with Washburn she scored 956 points to rank 13th at the time. After her junior year she was named MIAA newcomer of the year and she earned her first of two first team all-MIAA and academic all-MIAA honors.

When she ended her career she held the school record with an .820 free throw percentage and she was second with 81 total 3-pointers. Her 41 3-pointers during her junior were the second most in school history.

Matzke transferred to Washburn from Oklahoma.
