Washburn Hall of Fame - Clarence Tyson

First team All-American Clarence Tyson was a two-year member of the Ichabods basketball team from 1992 to 1994. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005-06.

In his two years with Washburn he helped lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances. His senior year he earned first team All-America and first team all-MIAA honors, as well as all-region and team MVP honors. The team went 29-4 under Hall of Fame coach Bob Chipman and advanced to the NCAA semifinal game.

Tyson finished his career with 982 points and 563 rebounds, both among the top for two-year players when he finished. In his senior year he scored 663 points, then the fourth highest single-season total at Washburn. He finished his two years averaging 15.1 points per game and 8.7 rebounds.

During the 2004-05 basketball season Tyson was named to the MIAA’s Silver Anniversary All-Tournament Team.

Tyson played professionally in Australia and in the International Basketball Association.
