Paola Castaldi was the event champion in the hammer throw with a school-record throw of 58.22m (191-00) for an NCAA provisional mark while earning 10 points for the team score. After dropping to second in the event standings, Castaldi's best throw was on her fifth of six throws moving her back into the lead. In the same event,
