Parker Gibson was 8 of 14 batting .571 in the opening weekend and scored a team-high seven runs as Washburn opened the season 3-0. Gibson was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and 3 RBI and a stolen base in the first game against Bemidji State collecting a walk and in the second game he was 3 for 4 with an RBI and another stolen base in the nightcap. In Washburn's 20-4 win over Minnesota-Crookston, he was 2 for 5 with 4 runs scored adding a double and another stolen base.
