Jeremy Luck – Senior – Offensive Lineman – MBA

When did you start playing football?
JL: I played flag football in elementary school but didn’t really get into competitive tag football until middle school. I started in seventh grade and then played it ever since.

 Why did you choose Washburn?
JL: Initially, I was recruited here to play football. Before I was recruited here, I honestly never heard of Washburn but the coaches came down and pitched me really well, and I came up here for a visit and really fell in love with the campus.

Did you play other sports growing up? How did playing those sports help you develop your game?
JL: I played basketball and baseball but never was really that good at them. Football was always my thing. I kind of regret not putting more energy into those sports as well. Wrestling and basketball definitely helped with pad level and things like that from an O-Line perspective.

Throughout your football career, who has influenced you the most?
JL: Coach Craig Schurig has influenced me the most because he’s believed in me since the start at the initial point of recruiting me. He has supported me and believed in me these five years I’ve been here.

How do you typically get yourself pumped before a game?
JL: Listen to some loud music and get the team going together. We listen to a mix of up-tempo rap or heavy metal.

Since the fall season has been suspended, how have you been spending your extra time?
JL: I’ve been playing a lot more video games. I also started my MBA this semester so that’s keeping me pretty busy.

What is your favorite show to binge watch?
JL: Trailer Park Boys. That’s my favorite.

Do you have any hidden talents?
JL: I’m actually a really good cook and I love to garden. I cook everything from grilling to baking different things. It really helps cut down on costs so that’s mainly why I cook. For gardening, I grow vegetables. This year, because of COVID, I didn’t get to do much. I have some success. I usually grow peppers and squashes and that sort of thing.

Anything else you would like to tell the fans?
JL: Look at the offensive line every now and then. It’s a pretty entertaining watch!
