Tim Hammes went 4-0 on the week to help Washburn men's tennis to its second straight MIAA/GAC Tournament Championship over the weekend. In the semifinals Hammes teamed up with Matthew Earle to knock off the No. 5 doubles team in the nation at No. 1, 6-2. In singles he won in three sets over Ouachita Baptist's Alex Blanchar who is ranked No. 12 in the nation. In the championship match he and Earle won 6-4 over Harding's top doubles team which is ranked No. 3 in the nation and in singles he won 6-0 in both sets over his opponent from No. 1.
