Six-year NFL veteran Brian Folkerts joins the Ichabod coaching staff and will mentor the offensive line for his second year on staff. The former Washburn All-American was a member of the Ichabods from 2008 to 2011.

Folkerts appeared in 28 games in the NFL including 26 with the Carolina Panthers. He also had stints with the New Orleans Saints, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.

Folkerts earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors as a freshman in 2008. As a sophomore in 2009, Folkerts was the Ichabod starting right tackle earning second team All-MIAA honors. During Folkerts junior season, he moved to left tackle, where he was named a first team All-MIAA selection. His senior year, Folkerts was once again named a first team All-MIAA selection, and also earned www.d2football.com’s 2nd Team All-American honors in 2011.

He’s married to former Ichabod soccer player Lindsey (Lambert) and they live in Topeka with their daughters, Ruby and June.
