ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Washburn's
Danielle Ayala scored the first of her three goals of the evening 35 seconds into the match as the Lady Blues rolled to a 6-0 win over Missouri Western. The Lady Blues will play host to Central Missouri at 7 p.m. Saturday night in Yager Stadium.
Ayala's hat trick was the third of the season for the Lady Blues as one of
Jessica Mainz's two this season has come against Missouri Western in their first meeting earlier this year.
Ayala scored her second goal less than two minutes later at the 3:18 mark as
Manon Englehardt assisted on both of Ayala's first two goals on crosses.
The Lady Blues would score right before the half as
Lisa Fahey scored from 10 yards out on an assist from
Traci Nigg to put Washburn up 3-0 entering halftime.
In the second half it was all Lady Blues as they outshot the Griffons 21 to 2. Ayala scored her third goal of the match in the 48th minute from 25 yards out over the goalkeeper's head pushing the lead to 4-0.
In the 63rd minute,
Brie Forman, who will be honored before the start of the game against the Jennies, scored her first career goal on an assist from Mainz.
Danielle Sicard scored her first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute wrapping up the 6-0 for the Lady Blues.
Ashley Klone picked up the shutout in goal for the Lady Blues, the fifth of her career.
For the match, Washburn held a 30 to 4 advantage in shots.
The Lady Blues outscored the Griffons in their two matches this season 13-0.
