JOPLIN, Mo. – The Lady Blues wrapped up a spot in the MIAA Postseason Tournament with a 1-1 double overtime tie with Missouri Southern. Washburn (9-5-5, 7-2-4 MIAA) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Southwest Baptist.
The Lions' Nikki Llewellyn scored in the 35th minute to give Missouri Southern (10-5-3, 6-5-2 MIAA) a 1-0 lead. Washburn's
Angela Wiseman knotted the score with her second goal of the season in the 77th minute off a corner kick.
Jenny Persons picked up seven saves in goal for the Lady Blues. Washburn outshot the Lions 15 to 11.
Entering the final day of the regular season, Truman leads the conference with 31 points. Central Missouri is in second with 28 points followed by Washburn and Southwest Baptist, who both have 25 points.
The conference tournament will be held at the regular season champion starting on Nov. 3 with the first place and fourth place finishers playing each other along with the second and third place finishers with the winners playing for the tournament championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 4.
