Ashley Shepard and
Caitlin Conley had double-figure kill matches as No. 9 Washburn won, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16), Saturday over Central Oklahoma in the final match of the Lady Blues Fall Classic. Washburn improved to 18-2 and will now return to MIAA action with a match Wednesday at Missouri Southern.
Conley had her second career double-double with 12 kills and a season-high 18 digs. Shepard had 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks.
Jessica Wade led all attackers with a .500 attack percentage but the Lady Blues hit .198 as a team with 22 errors in 162 tries. Central Oklahoma hit .071 with 32 errors.
Kate Hampson had 48 assists and a double-double with 13 digs.
Molly Smith led the back row with a career-high 27 digs and Monica MIesner had 18.
The Lady Blues had 11 blocks with
Stephanie Nitz getting a solo block and five assists.
The Lady Blues hit .152 or lower in the first two games before hitting .548 in the third set. They took a 10-4 lead in the set on a kill from Wade and then, up 19-13, they went on a 6-0 run to finish the third set with a 25-13 win.
The Lady Blues were down 14-13 in the fourth set before going on a 12-2 run to win the match. The Bronchos had seven errors during that streak and hit -.036 during the set.
