TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team blanked Missouri Southern 1-0 to improve to 6-5-1 on the season and 2-4-0 in MIAA play. Washburn will be in action on Thursday, Oct. 9 when they face Northwest Missouri at 7 p.m. in Yager Stadium.

Danielle Ayala scored her third goal of the season and the only one of the game from 4-yards out as she received a pass from Lauren Henry putting it in the net and Washburn up 1-0 in the 34th minute of the match. It turned out to be the match-winner as well, the third of her Washburn career.

Jenny Persons picked up the shutout in goal for the Lady Blues, the fourth of her Washburn career as she picked up two saves - both in the first half.

Washburn outshot the Lions 17 to 4 including 10 to 2 in the first half.
