TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues won their third straight match in a row picking up a 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri. With the win, Washburn improves to 7-5-1 overall and 3-4-0 in MIAA play. The Lady Blues will play host to No. 20-ranked Nebraska-Omaha at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Blues' Ashly Taylor scored her third goal of the season on an assist from
Danielle Ayala 49 seconds into second half action. At the 63:36 mark of the second half,
Lauren Henry scored her fourth goal of the season on Ayala's second assist of the night.
Washburn's
Nicole Tomes scored her first collegiate goal of her career on a an assist from
Brianne Silovsky to put Washburn up 3-0 at the 81:25 mark of the match.
Jenny Persons picked up her third shutout of the season collecting five saves while facing eight shots. She also improved to 5-0-0 in goal for the Lady Blues this season.
Washburn held an 18 to 8 advantage in shots in the match including a 12 to 5 lead in the second half. Washburn also had four corner kicks compared to two for the Bearcats.
