Season Statistics
The 10-ranked Lady Blues got contributions from all three of their seniors as they swept Fort Hays State, 25-15, 25-12, 25-19, Wednesday night during Senior Day in Lee Arena.
Washburn (30-4, 15-4 MIAA) will now take on Emporia State Friday at 7 p.m. on the road in the regular season finale. The Lady Blues must beat the Hornets to keep their chance of tying ESU for the MIAA title. ESU already clinched at least a share of its first conference crown and can clinch it outright with a win Friday or Saturday.
The three seniors started with
Monica Miesner leading with 12 kills,
Stephanie Nitz leading with a .471 attack percentage and
Carolyn Raynes getting a season-high eight digs.
Nitz also added nine kills and
Ashley Shepard had seven. The Lady Blues hit .266 as a team with setter
Kate Hampson getting 36 assists on 42 WU kills.
Miesner had a double-double as she led the back row with 15 digs and
Molly Smith added 14. WU had seven blocks with Nitz leading with three.
