TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Lady Blues fell in the semifinals of the Women's MIAA Tennis Championship Tournament. In the quarterfinals, Washburn topped arch-rival Emporia State 5-4. Washburn will now wait to discover their NCAA Regional assignment, which will be announced next week.

Washburn began the match taking two of the three doubles matches winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with Diana Goldsmith and Amber Raindl winning at No. 1 and the combo of Lauren Harris and Rachel Stevens taking the No. 2 match in doubles play. However after singles play began, the Bearcats took four singles matches to wrap up the match. Goldsmith won her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-3.
The match began at Kossover Tennis Center before rain forced the match to move to the three indoor courts at Topeka Country Club.

With the score knotted at 4-4, Washburn's Allie Gardner wrapped up the match with her three-set win at No. 4 singles topping ESU's Molly Bowman 6-7, 6-2, 7-5. Washburn opened the match winning two of the three doubles flights taking wins at No. 1 and No. 2 with Diana Goldsmith and Amber Raindl topping ESU's Natalie Villaflor and Marcela Bayon 8-6. Lauren Harris and Rachel Stevens picked up an 8-3 win over Molly Bowman and Kristen Ford at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Goldsmith and Harris each won their singles matches setting up Gardner's win at No. 5.
