Lady Blues drop 2-1 decision at Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell behind 2-0 at Southwest Baptist and pulled within one goal late in the match, but could not score the equalizer in a 2-1 setback to the Lady Bearcats. Washburn drops 4-5-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the MIAA. All five loses for the Lady Blues have been by a combined five goals. Washburn will be back in action on Wednesday at Rockhurst in Kansas City.

Nicola Cousins scored in the 34th minute giving SBU a 1-0 lead, a margin which would stand until halftime.Cousins added her second goal of the match, and her second assisted by Rhiane MItchell in the 69th minute of the match.

Danielle Sicard scored her first goal of the season and the second of her career in the 71st minute off an assist from Danielle Ayala.

Washburn outshot the Lady Bearcats 17 to 15 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
