TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team won their fourth match in a row scoring goals in each half in a 2-0 win over Missouri Southern. Washburn (6-4-0, 3-3-0 MIAA) will be back in action on Oct. 8 when they will face Northwest Missouri.
Washburn's
Brittany Tracz scored her second goal of the season and what would turn out to be the game-winner at the 38:00 minute mark on an assist from
Tia Stovall. It was Stovall's sixth of the season. Stovall hit Tracz with a drop pass who then connected from 18 yards out into the right corner of the net by Missouri Southern's Randi Russell.
The Lady Blues' final goal of the night came off a free kick by
Ashley Hynek whose kick was headed by
Leah Talley to
Ashley Taylor to who headed it in in the 71st minute putting Washburn up 2-0.
Ashley Klone picked up her 11th shuout win of her career and her second straight collecting three saves while facing seven shots.
Washburn outshot the Lions 12 to 7 and had a 7 to 1 advantage on corner kicks.
