MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues had their four-match winning streak snapped in a 2-0 loss at Northwest Missouri. The Lady Blues (6-5-0, 3-4-0 MIAA) will take on Nebraska-Omaha on the road on Sunday.
Washburn outshot the Bearcats 16 to 8 including an 8 to 3 advantage in the first 45 minutes. However the Bearcats took advantage of a Lady Blues penalty in the box and Kelsey Sanders converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute to opening the scoring. Sanders added her second goal of the match in the 80th minute putting Northwest up 2-0.
The Lady Blues had six shots on goal compared to four for Northwest.
Leah Talley and
Lauren Henry each had three shot attempts.
Washburn held a 4 to 1 advantage in corner kicks as the teams combined for 25 fouls with 14 whistles coming against the Bearcats.
