Ichabods shoot 56 percent in game in 100-60 win over Baker

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods again used a blistering second half improving to 5-0 on the season in a 100-60 win over Baker on Saturday night in Lee Arena. The Ichabods also improved to 61-4 in games in which the Ichabods reach at least 100 points. Washburn will open MIAA play at Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. tip time in Omaha.

The Ichabods trailed only 3-2 and only for 30 seconds in the win over the Wildcats. The Ichabods led by as many as 17 points in the opening half on three different occasions taking a 13-point lead into halftime at 48-35. The Ichabods were 17 of 31 from the in the first half converting 55 percent of their shots. The Wildcats were also over 50 percent for the half hitting 12 of 23 attempts including 7 of 14 from 3-point range.

In the second half, the Ichabods forced 10 turnovers leading to 14 points off turnovers stretching the lead to as many as 42 at 98-56. Washburn heated up to 57 percent in the second half hitting 20 of 35 attempts while turning up the defense holding the Wildcats to 8 of 28 shooting for a 29 percent average.

De'Andre Washington and Logan Stutz each had 20 points and William McNeill had 18, who scored 14 in the second half on 6 of 6 shooting from the field. Nate Daniels scored 12 hitting three field goals. Washington and Dezahn Otis each had four assists and Bryce Simons had five steals. Stutz was also 10 of 10 from the free throw line.

Sam Kenney led the Wildcats with 15 points off the bench.

Overall the Ichabods forced 19 turnovers while committing nine turnovers. The Ichabods finished with 26 points off turnovers and scored 15 second chance points compared to five for the Wildcats. The Washburn bench also outscored the Wildcats 47 to 21.
