Lady Blues soccer team picks up 4-1 win over CSU-Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 4-1 win over Colorado State-Pueblo to even its record at 1-1 on the season. The Lady Blues will be off from games until Sept. 7 when they will take on Newman in Wichita, Kan.

The Lady Blues took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute when Keeley Lambeth scored off an assist from Stefanie Steuver. However, 1:58 later, the ThunderWolves tied the score on a Kara Morton penalty kick.

The Lady Blues would score three unanswered goals as Leah Talley scored off an assist from Tia Stovall in the 56th minute and Ashley Taylor and Brandy Hirsch each scored unassisted goals in the 72nd and 77th minutes respectively.

Ashley Klone picked up the win in goal for the Lady Blues collecting one save while facing five shots. Washburn attempted 20 shots with nine coming on goal.
