KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The sixth-ranked Lady Blues volleyball team continued their winning ways on Friday at the Rockhurst Fall Classic beating Midwestern State 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-22) and Upper Iowa 3-1 (18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22) to improve to 10-0 on the season. The first set loss to Upper Iowa was the first set that Washburn has lost all season.
The Lady Blues out-hit Midwestern State .337 to .149 for the match, held the Mustangs to a .000 hitting percentage in set two and recorded 43 kills to 32 for MSU. Junior outside hitter
Ashley Shepard led the way for WU with 13 kills and a .500 attack percentage. Senior setter
Kate Hampson dished out 35 assists and had 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.
The Lady Blues dropped the first set to Upper Iowa 25-18 after the Peacocks hit .517 with 17 kills. WU responded with a resounding 25-14 win in set two to even the match, then finishing out the win with 25-20 and 25-22 wins in sets three and four, respectively.
UIU led 3-1 early in set two, but the Lady Blues scored 18 of the next 24 points to grab a commanding lead. Sophomore middle hitter

The Lady Blues will wrap up play in the Rockhurst Fall Classic on Saturday with two games. WU will square off with Eastern New Mexico at 9 a.m. as head coach
