Lady Blues record shutout win over Jennies on soccer pitch

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's Brittany Tracz's first half goal at the 14:13 mark of the match was the game-winner in the Lady Blues' 1-0 win over Central Missouri. The win snapped a three-match winning streak by the Jennies in the victory. Washburn (3-4-0, 1-3-0 MIAA) will be back in action on Saturday against Southwest Baptist on Saturday in Yager Stadium.

Tracz's goal came off a scramble infront of the net passed Central's Lauren Bamvakais into the lower left hand corner of the net. The game-winner was Tracz's first of the season and her first career match-winning goal in a Lady Blues uniform.

Washburn's goalkeeper Ashley Klone picked up the shutout win with eight saves while facing 15 Central Missouri shots. The shutout was Klone's first of the season and the ninth of her career.

The Lady Blues were outshot 15 to seven, including a 10 to 1 advantage in the second half as the Jennies were going with the win into the north end of Yager Stadium. Central Missouri also attempted 11 corner kicks while holding the Lady Blues without a corner kick opportunity. The Jennies also committed 15 fouls compared to 12 for Washburn.

Angela Wiseman had two shots to lead Washburn.

Cara Hennahane had three shots to lead the Jennies and Sharaya Sidebottom had two shots on goal along with Kayla Shain to lead Central Missouri.
