WICHITA, Kan. – Leah Talley scored the golden goal 15 seconds into the second overtime to give Washburn a 2-1 lead over Newman Sunday evening in Wichita. The Lady Blues improve to 2-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday when the open MIAA play at Central Missouri.

The match-winning goal came at the 100:15 mark of the match on an assist from Markie Gallagher as she beat the keeper 3-yards into the right corner of the net.

Neither team scored in the first half when the Jets' Lauren Wilson scored the first one of the match in the 47th minute. The Lady Blues were held scoreless until Danielle Sicard scored in the 85th minute on an assist from Ashley Taylor and Tia Stovall from 7-yards out into the left corner.

Ashley Klone picked up the win in net for the Lady Blues picking up six saves. Washburn outshot the Jets 15 to 13 and each team had four corner kicks.

Stovall had four shots to lead Washburn with two shots on goal. Lauren Henry also had two shots on goal.
