Lady Blues blanked by No. 2 Jennies

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team was shutout by the No. 2-ranked Central Missouri Jennies on Thursday night in Yager Stadium. Washburn (3-5-2, 3-4-1 MIAA) will be back in action at Missouri Southern on Saturday.

The Jennies (10-0-0, 8-0-0 MIAA) jumped on the board with two goals in the opening half as Carly Stanley scored from inside the box from about 10 yards out on an assist from Sharaya Sidebottom in the 29th minute of the match and Central Missouri added another in the 34th minute when Kristen Bright scored into the right side of the net on an assist from Aaryn Burke.

In the second half, the Jennies added another goal on Stanley's second goal of the match from 18 yards out from the middle of the goal box unassisted.

The Lady Blues were outshot 9 to 0 in the first half and 19 to 1 in the match overall. Washburn did not attempt its first shot attempt until there were 18:38 left in the match as a free kick by Megan Buckley from 25 yards out sailed high. Ashley Klone had nine saves in net for the Lady Blues.
