TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues tennis team took a 5-4 win over Rockhurst Wednesday afternoon on the Washburn Tennis Courts on campus in their first outdoor action in Topeka this season. Washburn will be back in action on April 3 in Kirksville, Mo., when they will take on the Bulldogs.

Annie Doole's win at No. 4 singles clinched the match for the Lady Blues. She topped Jaycie Schmidt 7-5, 7-6 taking the tie breaker 7-4. Washburn (6-5) also picked up singles wins at No. 3 with Whitley Zitsch and Alyssa Castillo at No. 5 picking up straight set wins. Washburn opened up a 2-1 lead after doubles winning both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles action with Trang Le Nguyen and Castillo at No. 1 and Morgan Rainey and Zitsch taking a victory at No. 2 doubles.
