TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues topped Emporia State 7-2 in Turnpike Tussle tennis action at the Washburn tennis courts. The Lady Blues will be back in action on Saturday on the road when they will take on Fort Hays State.

The Lady Blues (10-6, 5-1 MIAA) opened the match taking two of the three doubles flights as Morgan Rainey and Whitley Zitsch topping Talena Lorren and Alex Crowe 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and Annie Doole and Kristin McKee battled back from a 2-1 deficit to top Emily Huston and Kirsten Ford 8-5. In singles play, Washburn took 5 of the 6 flights all in straight sets to lock up the 7-2 win. Trang Le Nguyen lost only one game in her No. 1 singles win over Lorren 6-1, 6-0 and Rainey topped Amanda Morris in the only match to go three sets in the afternoon 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
