KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod tennis team defeated Emporia State in the MIAA Tournament with a 5-0 win over the Hornets. Washburn will now face Southwest Baptist in the semifinals.
Washburn swept the Hornets for the second straight time this season in the MIAA tournament first round win.
Ryan Ward and
Simon Blondin picked up a quick 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Ward also won his No. 2 singles match over Ryan Harris 6-1, 6-2 and Blondin wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Spencer Pozek.
Branden Joost was well on his way to winning at No. 1 singles up 6-2, 2-1 over Kevin Schoon.
