ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team came up short in a 3-2 loss at Missouri Western. Washburn will wrap up the season at Fort Hays State on Saturday.
Washburn (1-13-3, 1-5-2 MIAA) fell behind 1-0 when Ashley Juravich scored in the eighth minute as the Griffons (4-9-0, 1-6-0 MIAA) took the lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Lady Blues tied the score in the 49th minute with
Tia Stovall scored her first goal of the season on an assist from
Danielle Curtis.
The score remained tied until Missouri Western's Juravich scored her second goal of the evening in the 68th minute and Katie Kempf added to the Griffons' lead in the 75th minute putting Missouri Western up 3-1.
Lauren Henry scored her first goal of the season unassisted in the 86th minute cutting MWSU's lead to 3-2, but the Lady Blues would get no closer.
The Lady Blues outshot the Griffons 18-17.
Tori Fuglister had three saves in net for Washburn. Henry and Stovall each had five shots and three shots on goal for Washburn.
