KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues stepped out of MIAA play to top Rockhurst 5-4 in tennis action at the Loyola Park Tennis Courts. The Lady Blues will play host to Truman on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Washburn tennis courts.

Washburn took 2 of 3 doubles matches to open play as the No. 2 team of Morgan Rainey and Whitley Zitschtopped Karsyn Betts and Rachel Lazenby with a 9-8 win taking the tie-breaker 9-7 and at No. 3 doubles, Annie Doole and Elektra Hunter won their match 8-3. Singles play saw Zitsch win her No. 2 sinlges match in three sets while Alyssa Castillo blanked Leigh-Anne Fouri at No. 5 singles and Kristin McKee won her No. 6 match 6-1, 6-3.
