Last time out for Texas Woman's:
DALLAS, Texas (Sept. 3) – The Texas Woman's University soccer team battled Dallas Baptist to a 1-1 tie in the Pioneers' 2011 season opener at Patriot Soccer Field on Saturday night.
For only the second time in their 10-year soccer history, the Pioneers did not take a loss in their season opener and are now 1-8-1. The only TWU win in the season opener came during the 2005 season, also on the Patriot Soccer Field against Delta State (1-0).
The Pioneers did not waste any time finding the net against DBU as they took an early lead in the second minute of the game off a set piece. Junior Brittany Martin headed home junior Brittany Wispell's corner kick at the 1:06 mark to give TWU a 1-0 lead.
The early goal gave the Pioneers momentum as Martin tallied three more shots before DBU's first shot of the game. The Patriots evened the score at 1-1 at 29:00 mark on a header by Lea Sedwick.
That would be it for the scoring, as the two teams played the next 81 minutes without hitting the back of the net. Both teams had their opportunities in the second half and DBU got off nine shots on goal but the Pioneers' junior goalie Beatrice Soto stopped all of them to send the game in overtime.

Series history with the Patriots:
Saturday's match will be the first between Washburn and the Patriots.
Last time out for Dallas Baptist:
Sept. 5, 2011 -- On a cool and windy day at Lady Patriot Field, Kerry Edwards recorded her first shutout of the season and Danielle Presley scored the only goal of the game on a short breakaway from the top of the box to lead the Lady Patriots to a 1-0 win over West Texas A&M. After a scoreless first half, the Lady Patriots grabbed momentum and the lead by attacking the Lady Buffs with crisp passing and good ball control. In the games 78th minute, Kourtney Edwards attacked from midfield with a great individual effort to set up Presley with a mini-breakaway from about 30 yards out. Presley banged a right-foot screamer past Yvette Bedoy in the Lady Buff net for the only scoring the Lady Patriots would need on the day. With the win, Dallas Baptist improves its record to 1-1-1 and the West Texas A&M falls to 1-1.
Last time out for the Lady Blues
