TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell 5-0 to No. 12 ranked Rockhurst in non-conference action Tuesday night in Yager Stadium. Washburn will return to Yager Stadium to face Missouri Western on Friday at 6 p.m.
Washburn (2-8-0) trailed 1-0 at the break as Rockhurst (9-0-1) scored in the 17th minute on Jessica Cook's second goal of the season as Washburn was outshot 5 to 2 in the first half.
In the second half, Washburn was on defense much of the half as the Hawks outshot the Lady Blues 19 to 3 scoring four goals in the frame leading to the 5-0 win. Haley Long scored in the 55th minute and Taylor Skala scored her eighth goal at the 60:45 mark of the match. Katie Kujawa added her first goal of the season in the 69th minute and Colleen Shannon added one right before the end of the match in the 89th minute.
Lara Doescher had two shots and one shot on goal for Washburn.
Tori Fuglister started the match in net for the Lady Blues and allowed the first half goal and had two saves.
Jenna Lack had eight saves in the second half for Washburn.
